Volvo S60, V60 & XC60 Polestar Black R – but only in Sweden
Volvo and Polestar’s relationship has recently yielded the new Volvo V60 Polestar with a fulsome 345 bhp and remarkably decent performance. Now, to celebrate Volvo Polestar’s double title (drivers – Thed Björk - and constructors) in the 2013 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship they’re producing a limited number of Polestar ‘Black R’ models of the S60, V60 and XC60, but only for Sweden. Just like the normal Polestar upgrades, the extra power is more limited than the new V60 Polestar, with the T6 petrol getting 329 horses and the D5 diesel 230, with cosmetic tweaks including Ixion wheels, sports chassis, sports seats, Sensus Connect and more.
Chrysler Group late today took the unusual step of postponing a planned media drive of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee scheduled for early next month but vowed that "vehicles will still be in showrooms in September."
The media event -- in which waves of national and foreign journalists were to gather in Seattle between Aug. 8 and 14 to drive the Cherokee for the first time -- was delayed until at least the first half of September, according to an email from the automaker. "Over the last couple of weeks during final quality and durability testing, we have discovered the opportunity to further improve powertrain calibration" in the Cherokee, the company said.
Alpina has released first details of the estate edition of its 5-series based B5 Bi-Turbo. The wannabe M5 Touring car will be officially unveiled at the 2011 Geneva motor show next week. Alpina has been tuning BMWs for more than 40 years with the factory's blessing and increasingly close collaboration. Presaging the recent move by BMW M to forced-induction engines, Alpina first turbocharged the 5-series when they launched the B10 Bi-Turbo of 1989.
